Didactics

how and what students can learn

The teaching methods are based on “listening and speaking from the start”: since the first lessons students learn and communicate in English.

In order to communicate and to make oneself understood it is indispensable the study of phonetics for the exact pronunciation of sounds. The same importance is given to the study of the accent and the intonation of the English language, which are usually neglected during the studies of the secondary schools

The students are offered, through the conversation and the presentation of passages for reading and listening taken from authentic material, the opportunity of practising English both in the daily use and in that of different linguistic registers, so as to improve in more complex aspects such as the use of idiomatic expressions and phrasal verbs.

The methodology of the course lets students understand the working of the English language and so the grammar rules, starting from the contexts where the structures appear; the following study of the grammar areas allows students to understand thoroughly the systems regulating the language.

The course programme includes a part dealing with writing so that students can learn to make compositions starting from a wide range of texts and authentic materials concerning a lot of topics.

The didactics is supported by a multimedial library which is at complete disposition of students.
